About

Matthew Zaterka, Going Places Counseling

In 2001 I began work as a school guidance counselor working in the public school setting. After a few years in the profession, I obtained the education, training and licensure to become a licensed mental health counselor for the State of Massachusetts. I worked in both the high school setting as a school counselor as well as in the clinical setting as an outpatient therapist.

Currently, I have opened an outpatient mental health office in downtown Northborough, Ma, where I see clients after school hours and weekends with a focus on the school aged adolescent. I am also a current school counselor working at St. John’s High School in Shrewsbury, MA where I work in all facets of traditional school counseling including academic advising, mental health, school adjustment, and college admissions. Due to conflict of interest and best practices in ethics, I do not provide mental health services to current St. John’s High School Students.

Going Places Counseling is about meeting the individual where they are, forming a connection, then working together to take steps to move forward. It is action based and goal-oriented therapy using skills, training, collaboration, and experience to meet a desired outcome that can last a lifetime.
